@LittleAlex@chaos.social I use this output and adapter cable. Is that the one you mean with RGB out?
My problem is the lack of a monitor that takes the Cinch video cable.

#nobot following please
I confirm every follow request as long as you have own content or at least written an #introduction post. Because I feel uneasy when followed by empty accounts.

@LittleAlex@chaos.social Bonus pictures because it's #retrofriday :
@galaxis @Retrograde Missing PSU seems to be a common problem with #retrohardware on ebay, I have this same situation with an Atari ST.
I already bought a suggested power supply and plug but procrastinated the cable cutting and soldering away yet...
@galaxis @Retrograde This +/- 5V/12V combination was new to me on the Atari ST. Was that common for 16bit machines?
I got a "Cisco 1700 PIX 506 ADP-30RB 6PIN 5V 3A" suggested. Should get over it and solder the plug finally...
Great, even the cookie policy is walled. It's popups all the way down.
Do they really try to educate me that I should utilize my browser because they won't offer not to set those fsckers in the first place?
@cypnk William and Bruce wouldn't be so sure. :-)
@SierraKiloBravo Is that really the correct attachment?
@SierraKiloBravo Haha. And I really tried hard to identify Charlie's face through the process and for a whole minute I thought that it must be just in the next second when the big reveal comes.
And at the same time my brain mumbled, hmmmm, is the Japanese Prime Minister really such a comedic relaxed guy for such jokery? That would have been a nice parallel world, though.
You should attach that video here again for reference. :blobwizard:
@SierraKiloBravo ...and those two similar filenames probably reflect my thoughts:

- two-funny-guys-jp.avi

Rainbow colors at company context? Sorry, I think #Atari was first. :-)
@phooky That's not a bad thing.
I had a similar situation, so intensive I started to read and ask around.
The most useful hint I learned was that it's ok and actually useful to say "I don't know" and continue the discussion.
12 years later I still do these discussions with bilateral insights just because that young human trusts me.
My soldering activities and my #6502processor were like Janet and Michael Jackson - never together in the same room.
Today I resolved that.
Though only with 40% success. The SRAM extension in my #Atari600XL works alone a bit (sic!?) but the combo with the Ultimate 1MB card does not.
I'm a bit lost.
More details later.
So I'm sure my soldering itself was fine as the #Atari600XL still works with the SIDE3 cartridge and the "SRAM revised" extension.
Here are the pristine #Atari600XL board and both extensions: the small one is "SRAM 64kB revised", the big one is the "Ultimate 1MB RAM expansion" which is said to require 64kB first.
The last picture shows the SRAM extension. CI is a "pluggable" wire to pin 16 of the MMU (CAS_INHIBIT).
The cables on the 6502 are unused here. The will go to the Ultimate card in the complete setup.
PS: I don't have electronics knowledge but mostly sort my thoughts.
So onto the Ultimate 1MB card.
Here's the wiring.
Replaced MMU with cable.
Replaced XL OS with cable.
Wires from 6502 into the Ultimate card.
No CI anymore to MMU.
When I turn this on I get a black screen. Power LED is on, and it's not the TV white noise anymore, so there is something out there...
@eriol @Titicolin @DeveloperMemes Wikipedia says due to its extreme similarity the code point is "normalized to U+003B ; SEMICOLON, making the marks identical in practice".
So languages with pedantic Unicode support probably just work. I tried #perl6 / #rakulang. Then lost interest. :-)

@profoundlynerdy @anahata@tech.lgbt Wow, I was just randomly peeking around and this book is full of enlightenment and fun:
《If we wanted to go full Scandinavian-furniture-minimalism, we’d do a Scheme.》
《Because Eich slapped JS together with roughly the same raw materials and time as an episode of MacGyver, it has some weird semantic corners where the duct tape and paper clips show through.》
Sounds like I want it as physical book to appreciate it appropriately.
Always have your emergency contacts ready.
@cpi Looks like the most balanced place is the Dust Bowl epicentre.
Being fully vaxxed now I'm allowed to use GOTO again.
@mdhughes @sp6mr Yeah, in other vaccines/plagues the are happy about 60+% especially as a mitigation to mass spreading, less about the individual. So personally I also think it might be "too good".
Then again, I'm not the expert and just followed public advice for 2 shots.
The only real effort I invested was to read a couple of days about the new mRNA mechanism to mitigate the personal impact of all those widely spreaded fears and make a conscious decision.
@space_cadet ...and keep an eye on that fly.
This star trek meme with the embarrassing darth mullet prince and princess amygdala is getting on my nerves.
@mdhughes It probably feels like an interview where the interviewer derails you all the time into *his* solution regardless of what you actually try.
(An under the hood it's probably just Markov chains all the way down anyways.)
@robdaemon On a senior person I tried a soft approach once but it didn't help. Such urge is naturally and strong.
If I would ever experience it again I would try a respectful but strong "stop it!" asap combined with reasoning about risk, cost, etc.
On a junior guy (a good one with just too much energy) I'm in a position now to ignore it, protected by a code review process which for the first time helps me. At some point he got enough other work so it faded out naturally.
@robdaemon Uh oh, I don't have a success story for this.
I would probably try to escalate with continuous blocking in code reviews or the like and struggle through difficult weeks. Better than endless suffering. Repeating the arguments again and again in a constructive way until he gets annoyed first, assuming he is more into coding than discussing. Make him tired of the discussion, so it becomes a cost for *him*.
I lost such fight once. Maybe don't listen to me. Good luck.
I'm physically visiting
and plan to play until exhaustion. It is the greatest thing since, erm, arcades.
I'm ATR in the high scores today.
5h driving.
8h gaming.
Total exhaustion.
Mission accomplished.
This guy built a PC based on the 65816 cpu:
Ripped my beloved jeans during vacation, so I'm running in full #80s mode for a while.
Is that BYTE magazine cover really 40 years old?
When map solutions looked like Missile Command. Best of both worlds.
These BYTE covers had a strong punch back in 1982. Man, I am hit by #nostalgia - how I miss those days...
...and they had it mid #70s already.
@cstanhope Wow, indeed. Just checked at https://vintageapple.org/byte/ . To be honest, it's also due to the lots of ads, just like today. Somehow this issue is like a frozen situation in the space-time-continuum.
6502 CPU on flexible substrate:

...who I seem to pick up lately.
@millihertz He he, yes I was confused once too and had a similar idea even, just lack the energy to catch up my knowledge. I'm in fact really sad that I missed the chance to dive into VAX machines when I had the chance back in university times in the early #90s. So I'm actually a #novax'er myself. :-)
@stiefkind Sorry that I somehow "stole" you the fame for that toot. I learned it from here and just recreated an "international" version. I will mention this again on my Academy Award speech. You should get the fame. :blobcat:
For the first time ever I have found a website using all the modern browser features with javascript, graphics, and animation for the good.
I studied this explanation of how combustion engines work back and forth and understood some things for the first time.

The 3rd world war will be like a backwards Terminator movie,
not between nations but in time. And so far we have a hell
of a punch against our children's future.
We should not win. I will join my kids on September 24, 2021.
Me, prepared to go back to commute.
