#nobot following please
I confirm every follow request as long as you have own content or at least written an #introduction post. Because I feel uneasy when followed by empty accounts.
"You've made a mission to the moon, but so have the deadly SPACE INVADERS".
Man, these manuals were rocking!
"To follow in the way of karate is not an easy journey. It is a test of the body and the spirit."
@cypnk You just witnessed the birth of pair programming. :-)
Instant Lettering, a Letraset Database.
Careful with boosting - people will know you are old.
@cypnk Your dictionary is amazing if only 5 fragments of this character mess are marked. Using Perl mode? :-)
@thomasfuchs I started at the age of 14 if this counts as "kid". Here is what influenced me before actually studying it.
And I can't find a cover for "Turbo Pascal Profibuch", Martin Althaus.
@solidsanek For skinny jeans it's a bit of a stretch (what a pun!) but in cargo trousers it absolutely works, same as in jacket pockets.
This Vaio "we don't do netbooks"-netbook is a nice device size.
I'm in my lyrical pun mood this morning, it seems...
Cool-down picture pack for today.
Isn't it actually the last chance for him to go with at least a tiny bit of honor by just accepting the results?
@mntmn No. You could install an alternative cpan client "cpanminus"
cpan App::cpanminus
and use this one with an environment variable
export PERL_CPANM_OPT="--notest"
cpanm Acme::24
@cypnk For many years I kept a laptop with broken display still going in my network because it was the last device with a floppy. But granted, it was 3.5". :blobpats:
The URL https://waldstattasphalt.blackblogs.org/unterstutzung/packliste/ errors out from "too many redirects". At least with Firefox and duckduckgo-browser.
Besides that, is there something to support you without actually coming into the wood? A donations account? An address where to send supplies (and a list with things to send)?
Keep going, it already sends out strong signals in the news. Good luck. I hope you can continue with the cold weather ahead...
I know. You never did. The Kenosha Kid.
Here are probably all of them:

@Gotterdammerung I'm curious if such a big VR event ends with 1000 guys collectively vomiting out their motion sickness...
@keinea49 I hope you carefully archive these videos. Do not rely on fascbook/twitler.
They are a monument of the questionable triumph of the will of this state. With fully armored police as if they are going to war. Payed by us all.
And it will easily be forgotten like hundreds of similar fights before.
Take care.
@keinea49 I guess the green party could be interested in them for their upcoming election ads. To mitigate any shadow of a doubt.
I love Trevor Noah.
The billionaires' real advantage on the coronavirus is their better understanding of exponential growth.
Stroustrup in his C++ 2000 paper https://stroustrup.com/whitespace98.pdf :
"[...] it was decided to by default limit identifiers to a single character:
int xy; // error: two-character identifier
[...] since we now have the full Unicode character set available, we don't actually need hard-to-read long names.
[...] Multi-character names are a relic of languages that relied heavily on global name and encouraged overly-large scopes."
:-)
@cypnk But... but... Not Dim mak?
@ende_gelaende Water to protesters outside in nature. In November. Deliberately risking the health of these young people. That's not my police. Abject.
@ende_gelaende My package is on its way via some p4f guys, I hope this works out. A dozen pair of winter socks, some thermo underwear, hot-water bags, AldiTalk prepaid credits, and a couple of powerbanks. #keineA49
This guy traces the source of source code in #movies. Some nice classics in there.
@ende_gelaende Barbed wire, guard dogs, police patrols - the good old traditional german setup. #keineA49
@dosnostalgic Creating CD-ROMs was feeling great. Your own software, physically in your hand, with your own logo. Until you find out there is a bug in it and this pack of 5000 disks over there just turned into waste while you look up the insurance company's phone number. I tried that experience. One less stupid thing to do.
@thomasfuchs Turbo Pascal 3 was an enlightenment for me.
Can I please get back my Athena widget set scrollbars?
@mdhughes @phooky @cypnk ...which triggered me to search for SDI. I was painting pictures at the time in school, torn apart between the fascination for "space lasers" and a diffuse fear of Reagan.
Finished my 2020 project.
Let me call it #6502portable.
It closes the loop between my starting point in 1986 and now. Like a Terminator time line, just backwards.
It's an Atari 800XL on a USB powerbank, video output captured into a Raspi on a 2nd powerbank.
Visuals inspired by Alien movie where computers look like they should. Released in 1979, the year of Atari 800.
I have rarely felt more satisfied.

If this is cyber then where is the punk, I hear you ask.
My grandfather was a carpenter grandmaster. When he tried to teach me when I was 10 he quickly gave up - I was not qualified. Carving the front plate from wood anyway nearly 40 years later - that's my punk.
#6502portable with wireframe demo. Space.
@npisanti @joshavanier You can buy "Fresnell" lenses online. I was literally thinking about it for my #6502portable but didn't want to mix styles. Maybe my next selfmade laptop gets a Brazil look'n'feel...
@mdhughes When? I was there 2k13..15.
@neauoire @adalbertsen We use B12-supplemented oat drink. Found a perfect tasting one after lots of experimenting. No issues at blood test after 1.5years vegan for the teen kid. But I will test myself too in 2021, I'm eating vegan since March this year.

"The AYB retro-return-date (Zero Wing Zero Hour) should be around AD 2021."
@dammn In my rare spare time I'm catching up on low-level and hardware programming I forgot to learn 30 years ago. Strictly only for fun.
I learn assembler along #6502asm and #riscv, drive IO pins, just the simple stuff. When possible I prefer the real #retrohardware. The #6502portable combines everything I do, without my traditional cable mess.
Though I already miss the #scanlines. :-)
I just realized that Chuck Yeager passed away in December 2020. I only knew his name from "Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer" which I played a lot on my first PC.
@space_cadet What the fax!

Isn't there a browser plugin which replaces the #ads from a better decade?
"I want your clothes, your shoes, and your Burroughs system."
@stiefkind Amazing icons in that Xerox Star. Reminded me of the semiotic standard icons in the #Alien #movie. Xerox rocked!
Reading more about the Burroughs Large Systems. Never heard of it before.
The B5000 story contains so many classic participants and technologies: Dijkstra, Knuth, Hoare, ALGOL compiler, holistic hardware for software approach, asymmetric parallelism, virtual memory, etc. etc.
