#nobot following please
I confirm every follow request as long as you have own content or at least written an #introduction post. Because I feel uneasy when followed by empty accounts.
Recursive #fun for the whole family, all the way down.
I even forgot what I was searching for in the first place. What a strange day. Perfect!
@cypnk From the url above:
"Giger’s incredibly detailed description of this world wavers between dystopia and utopia as he describes how the superior beings of the biomechanoids create an Eden free of pollution, racism, nationalism, and disease through their domination of the wheelchair bound human race."
@m0ofx I don't get it. Didn't we all talk about aerosols from nearly the beginning?
That's why the masks, the closed schools, the shop limits. I don't understand what they mean to be new...
That's the model my younger me wore in the late 80s. Obviously I used it like Frank Murphy to verify my sanity.
Beware of #70s #scheme injection attacks in your #retrohardware.
These guys knew how to label a product when you are in lighting strike detection: BFG.

@space_cadet Is it just me or do the numbers add up strangely? It's not a 100% sum nor can I easily fit 9 participants to those numbers...
@space_cadet I will call the support. We will probably just have to quickly turn the fediverse off and on again.
@paradroyd Is that really the light in your lair or do you post-process these mini movies?
I'm envious, just a little, ok maybe 8, bit...
@cypnk Scary to imagine someone forgot that but followed step 1.
An east german banking computer K8924, seemingly a descendent of the A5120.

I like their look'n'feel.
(PS: my first entry with image #captions AFAIR. I'm open to hints how to do this right.)

Here, between electronic garbage, with a hot coffee and the Turrican soundtrack from a ghetto blaster."

@thomasfuchs Funny, I'm just about preparing a new corner for the old team.
It looks a bit lonely yet but hey, Fridays don't wait.

@EdS Which tiny TV model is that left on the bbc micros?
@EdS @thomasfuchs I acquired a Bentley portable TV to work on some old machines but haven't checked yet if it works...
#retrofriday again.
I welcomed an #Atari600XL in my #retrocomputing corner.
Got it on eBay just for curiosity. Smaller than I thought, I didn't expect it to be so ... cute.
Unfortunately the keyboard is one of the cheap/bad variants, not well suited for serious typing.
As I'm not so emotionally tied to the 600XL I might read around if it allows some of those modern extensions that I don't allow to my sacred original 800XL.
Diane,
it's #retrofriday and I realized I might have over compensated my pandemic isolation with shopping for #retrohardware .
Expect things getting unwrapped in the next couple of days...
The keyboard on this 600XL is a type 3 according to this page:
https://atariage.com/forums/topic/105170-600800xl-keyboard-variants/
See the wide "O" key (nearly a circle) and the CONTROL just outline, not inverse.
Are the chips in my #Atari600XL socketed so that it's easy to upgrade?
Let's have a look...
I tried to clean up that #Atari600XL metal plate.
The only thing that helped a bit at all was NEVR-DULL, an oily cleaning cotton wool usually used to clean motorcycles.
Still not really shiny but it feels less dirty.
The original #knapsack problem:
Standing in the grocery wondering why the potatoes won't fit and realizing I do have a #tandy 100 floppy in it.
But then again, who doesn't?
I ordered a Bentley on the Internet and all I got was a mobile TV.
David Lynch could make art of it.
I, for myself, am just waiting for the antenna adapter's arrival.

Why didn't I explain bytes this way to my young John Connor?
The eight-fingered hand -- even sounds a bit (pun!) like a Kung Fu movie. Double win.
From
@mdhughes This video is psychedelic like an early Pink Floyd concert. Never heard of the duodecimal before. Triple win today.
@space_cadet Yes. But what really drives me crazy is that the Japan episode is actually the first, which means after Japan she gets back to the "Pussy Wagon" with which she left from hospital to go after #2 on her list.
@thomasfuchs It looks like made of Pertinax back in the 40s. Turing's personal mouse?
Nooooo, #explainxkcd, I knew it, now *I* have all those wikipedia tabs open, unable to move forward...

I am Jack's wrong SCART adapter.
@pepijndevos Tetris-style code folding would be fun where the full lines disappear as soon as you made them fit. Not sure that was the point of your schematics.
I'm not sure if finding the right combination of adapters, cables and frequencies is Max Headroom style or rather the most 70s camping flashback experience I had in decades.
@mdhughes I was actually just looking for info about Bibo-DOS and accidentally found something in the earlier Antic month:
https://archive.org/details/1988-12-anticmagazine/page/n9/mode/2up
@mdhughes ...or the month after it, my number systems get mixed up once in a while, anyway... :-)
And now I can't stop reading old Atari magazines.
I'm addicted to their story telling, punch lines, colors, overall æsthetics, just... everything.

@dervishe Hot air fin sounds interesting, too. :-)
30 years ago I loughed at Wirth's vision to make teaching programming easier.
Now, with that ridiculous amount of layered obfuscation they spill over pupils with Java, I understand him.
I feel so lost at even starting to explain all that boilerplate mess.
Holy shatner, does this guy touch the magnetic surface?
@space_cadet It is imho EASIER to NOT act as if we are doomed.
Living like it doesn't matter is a psychological reflex. And capitalism will exploit the shit out of this your reflex.
They will sell you the same old boring stuff until you vomit bankruptcy coins.
I'm absolutely convinced that it's more fun to do anything else.
@space_cadet
The picture shows a false dilemma. The important story happened before that situation.
But yes, thinking about it can be depressing. The Kassandra dilemma.
Still, I won't buy bigger blinders.
Ui ui ui, not this. "Karate" for the 2600 is really a mess. I know that nice covers won't match reality - but *this*?!
Granted, the width of a sprite makes you fit for fighting in a phone booth... but... but... no.
Is it #retrofriday again? Let's try my new Retroscaler on an east german KC85/4 based on a Z80 variant called U880.
I like the industrial look'n'feel of this machine.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/KC_85
The video signal could be better, it suffers from double conversion native -> Cinch RCA cable -> Retroscaler HDMI due to lack of a more versatile monitor.
