Unfortunately the keyboard is one of the cheap/bad variants, not well suited for serious typing.

As I'm not so emotionally tied to the 600XL I might read around if it allows some of those modern extensions that I don't allow to my sacred original 800XL.

I tried to clean up that metal plate.

The only thing that helped a bit at all was NEVR-DULL, an oily cleaning cotton wool usually used to clean motorcycles.

Still not really shiny but it feels less dirty.

I like the industrial look'n'feel of this machine.

The video signal could be better, it suffers from double conversion native -> Cinch RCA cable -> Retroscaler HDMI due to lack of a more versatile monitor.
